In the 1974 BBC series of Anthony Trollope’s The Pallisers, Lady Glencora (played by Susan Hampshire) is shown reading Splendeurs et Miseres des Courtisanes (Splendours and Miseries of Courtesans).

    Susan Hampshire is a prominent dyslexic and so that frown may be genuine. An amazing actress, she carried that entire series IMO.
